What's keeping you from breaking 100 in golf? More likely than not, it is your putting. Yes your putting. It's not your driver, it's not your irons, it's your putting.
Putting contributes to around half of your strokes. One of the most important parts of the game, that seems really simple, but is the thing people struggle with the most. In fact, the professional golfers spend 90% of their practice time around the green, and only 10% of it on the range hitting full swings.
Drill Doctor
Why?
Because putting is one of the most important parts of the game. Drive for show, putt for dough. Golf boils down to how you do on and around the greens. So if you're serious about breaking 100 in golf, you really need to start focusing on your putting.
Here is a simple drill to help eliminate three putts and lower your overall putts per round.
Distance Control Drill
Some people say that when lag putting, you should aim for a three foot circle around the hole. I disagree. I was reading Putting Out Of Your Mind by Dr. Rotella. He says that we should always aim for the hole and try to make it. Because if you have trouble getting it close to a 4 inch circle, you're going to have just as much trouble trying to get it into a 3 ft circle.
So if you aim for the hole and end up around 2 or 3 ft from the hole, you will be around 4 or 5 feet from the hole if you aim for the 3 feet circle. So here is the drill to help for breaking 100 in golf.
You get three tees and three balls. You set the three tees at 10 feet, 15 feet, and 20 feet from the hole. You then take a club or something similar and put it three feet behind the hole.
Then you putt three balls from each tee. Each ball must go past the hole, but can not hit the club three feet behind the hole.
You're allowed one miss. So if you leave it short or hit the club, its alright. However, if you do it again you have to start over from the 10 foot one. For each putt you make you get another strike. So if you make a ten footer, you are allowed to leave 2 balls short or long.
You can increase the distance as you get better. So you can go 15 feet, 20 feet, and 25 feet, and so on.
If you do this you will be breaking 100 in golf in no time.
